An Art Deco Holiday in Silver and Champagne
Art Deco holiday decor trades red and gold for pine, silver, champagne and ivory, and traditional abundance for geometry. It is built on clean line, reflective surface and repetition, with one sculptural gesture per room rather than ornament everywhere.
It is also, practically speaking, a quieter way to decorate. Deco rooms are busy in their detail and calm in their effect, which is a useful quality in a house that will be full of people for six weeks.
What makes a room read as Art Deco?
Three things, in order of importance. Line before ornament: shapes are sculpted, layered and symmetrical rather than loose. Material does the decorating: polished metal, lacquer, suede and glass carry the interest, so you need fewer objects. And restraint holds it together, because everything is reflective, nothing is allowed to shout.
Our Co-Founder describes the starting point this way:
"I found myself drawn to heirloom silver, winter whites, deep evergreen pines, and the soft, luminous tones of champagne. I wanted to capture that sense of timeless glamour through sculptural Art Deco lines, refined textures, and thoughtful details."
Seema Bansal Chadha, Co-Founder, Venus et Fleur
The palette: deep pine, silver, champagne, ivory
Four colors, and no more. Deep evergreen gives the room its depth, ivory and pearl keep it from going cold, and silver and champagne do the work that gold and red do in a traditional scheme, with less heat.
The discipline is in what you leave out. No gold tinsel beside the silver. No red ribbon on a champagne wreath. One metal temperature per room, or at most two kept deliberately close.
Start with one geometric gesture
Every Deco room has a single defining shape. A wreath on a plain wall or above a mantel is the easiest place to put it.
The Moderne Eternity® Wreath is the most architectural piece we have composed. Long needles of Eternity® Pine are hand-trimmed into clean layers and set with polished silver orbs and a champagne satin ribbon, 19 inches in diameter, $399. It carries no flowers at all, which is what gives it its silhouette.
If you would rather the gesture be floral, the Deco d'Or Grand Wreath sets 48 real Eternity® Roses in pearl and white into a base of cypress, juniper and evergreen, with champagne and silver ornaments through it, 19 inches, $899.
Repeat the elements around the room
Deco interiors repeat. Once you have chosen your shape and your metal, echo them at two more heights so the eye travels.
- The Deco d'Or Garland carries 21 Eternity® Roses and silver canella berries along 39 inches, $299. Several link together with the embedded hook to run a mantel, a banister or a table.
- The Deco d'Or Tabletop Tree stands 19 inches with 33 Eternity® Roses on a polished silver-plated base, $399.
Our holiday decor is composed by hand in limited quantities. Where a piece shows Join the Waitlist, add your name and we will write to you first when it returns.
Let the table carry the silver
This is our first season working in silver, and the table is where it does the most work. A mirror finish collects candlelight and spreads it, which is the whole effect Deco interiors were chasing with their mirrored panels and chrome.
The Silver Julep Cup Bois de Rose at 9"H x 8"W, $499, and the Silver Bowl Bois de Rose at 9.5"H x 9.5"W, $599, both sit low enough to talk across. Each holds Eternity® Roses and Eternity® Hydrangeas in pearl and pure white with long leaf pine, wool cypress, mountain juniper and golden canella.
For a long table, the Grand Bol Bois de Rose gathers 80 real Eternity® Florals into a sweeping dome, 13 inches tall and 18 inches wide, $2,499.
Keep the print consistent
The detail most rooms miss is the packaging. Gifts sit under the tree for weeks, so they are decor whether you intended them to be or not.
Our Deco Délicate hat boxes are embossed in metallic silver on cream suede with a hand-drawn illustration of New York's Art Deco skyline, from Le Mini Round at $69 to the Large Le Plein with 150 Eternity® Roses at $1,399. Stacked at varied heights, they do more for a room than most ornaments.
Are these real flowers?
Yes. Every Eternity® Bloom is a real flower, hand-picked at peak bloom by botanical experts at our partner farms in South America and Asia, then preserved through a proprietary process that keeps its color and fullness. Preserved to last a year, no maintenance required. They need no water and no trimming.
How do I care for it all?
Keep each piece at room temperature and out of direct sunlight, a comfortable distance from fireplaces and radiators. Never water it. Dust lightly with a soft duster. Polish silver vessels with the cloth provided, never with water or a silver dip.
