Inside Bois de Rose: What Is Actually in Our Holiday Arrangement
Bois de Rose is this year's holiday mix. Seven elements, sourced from four countries, arranged by hand.
Most seasonal arrangements reach for red. This one does not. It is built in pearl, white and green, with gold and a blue-green running through it — closer to a winter garden than to a wrapping-paper palette, and designed to stay out well past the season.
What flowers are in a Bois de Rose arrangement?
Eternity® Roses in pearl and pure white, white hydrangea, long leaf pine, cypress, gold canella berry and blue-green mountain juniper. All are real, hand-picked at peak bloom and preserved to last a year without water.
The roses
Two kinds. Our Super Rose is the large, open bloom in pearl; the Petite Rose is the smaller pure white that fills in around it. Both are grown in Ecuador and Colombia and cut at the moment they open fully — not before, which is when most commercial roses are harvested so they survive shipping.
The hydrangea
White, and also from Ecuador and Colombia. Hydrangea does the structural work in a mixed arrangement: it fills volume without competing with the roses for attention, and its texture is what keeps a dense arrangement from reading as flat.
The pine and cypress
Long leaf pine and cypress, both from China, both preserved rather than dried. This is the difference you can feel. Dried greenery is brittle and drops; preserved greenery stays supple and holds its needles for the full year.
The canella berry
Gold, from Japan. Canella is the small clustered berry that catches the light in these arrangements — the literal glitter in All that Glitters.
The mountain juniper
Blue and green, also from Japan. Juniper is the coolest note in the mix and the reason the arrangement does not read as a conventional Christmas centerpiece. It pulls the whole thing toward a winter garden.
How is Bois de Rose different from a fresh holiday arrangement?
A fresh arrangement is at its best for a few days and gone within two weeks. Bois de Rose is preserved at peak bloom and lasts a year with no water, no trimming and no maintenance. It is a seasonal arrangement that is still there the following season.
Where to see it
Bois de Rose comes in three sizes this year.
The Sylvie gathers it in hand-finished porcelain, compact enough for a nightstand or a kitchen counter.
The Small Round and the Large Round present it in our signature hatbox, carrying this year's Déco Délicate print in silver foil on creamy suede.
To finish the room, the Bois d'Hiver candle is the scent built alongside it.
Frequently asked questions
Are preserved flowers real flowers?
Yes. Every Eternity® Bloom is a real flower, hand-picked at peak bloom and preserved. They are not dried, and they are not artificial.
How does preservation work?
The sap inside the flower is replaced with a plant-based solution. The petals stay soft and hold their original pigment instead of drying out and fading.
How long does a Bois de Rose arrangement last?
A year, with no water and no maintenance required.
Where do the flowers come from?
The roses and hydrangea are grown in Ecuador and Colombia. The canella berry and mountain juniper come from Japan. The pine and cypress come from China.
How should I care for it?
Keep it at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. If dust collects over time, remove it gently. No water is needed at any point.
